For Torra by Leyna

Title:September Country
For:Torra
Pairing/Characters:Fraser/Kowalski
Warnings:None
Artist's Notes: Torra requested a happy ending, so this is "Happily Ever After" as imagined by Fraser. It is strongly influenced by the classic poster art and fairytale illustrations of Maxfield Parrish. Fraser's version would include botanically correct trees and plants, though (er, sorry, Fraser!).

Thank you to my 2 brilliant art betas, Ileliberte and Crysothemis, for many helpful suggestions. Any remaining problems are solely mine. Click on the paintings to view the full size versions.

I'm very glad you like it. Thanks so much for giving me the excuse to paint Ray and Fraser (and Dief!)

just lovely! the faces are especially expressive, and i adore the muted colors and detailed shading.

Thank you! I love painting portraits.

Wow. Just, wow. *stares*

I love the clear look of this.
And they both look so peaceful and Ray so young and carefree. Fraser still seems to have something on his mind, but it's nothing too bad.

And the background is absolutely gorgeous!

I'm glad you like the background - I usually skimp on them, so this was a challenge!

I was trying to get Fraser to look eager (for adventure etc) but his expression turned slightly *g*

Wow, this is pretty damn impressive.

I love all the details, the trees and the wildflowers, the watch and bracelet on Ray, the belt, the little gap where Fraser's shirt doesn't quiet lie flat, the mountains in the background, Dief's fur...

Absolutely gorgeous!

I love adding in details (when I have time on a painting) so thank you for noticing!

This is just amazing!!! *stares*

Partly I am commenting here to test anonymous commenting, which I just enabled...but I also wanted to tell you again how much I love this painting. *hearts*

This is really lovely. I adore the colours, and all the detail on the clothing and the expressions of both. Kowalski in particular is *gorgeous*, and I love the bittersweet expression on Fraser's face. And Dief! Wow, Dief is gorgeous!

You've really captured the characters, and the painting(s) are beautiful. Amazing work!

Thank you! I enjoy painting portraits and expressions. I'm relieved that Dief worked - I've never actually tried painting a dog (half-wolf, sorry Dief!) before, and it was a challenge *g*

Truly wonderful. The emotions are so clear, the colors strong without being overpowering. A remarkable job of capturing the characters.

Thank you! I always try to get character and expression on faces. Fraser's expression isn't quite what I intended (happens to me quite often) but I liked the portrait, anyway *g*

Beautiful!

Thank you *g*

This is truly lovely. The different textures and tones create such a multitude of textures, and really give the piece depth and dimension.

The detail work is exquisite, and I love that all three are looking off into the distance, leaving us to wonder what they see.

And what a wonderful inspiration - I love Parrish's work, and this does homage quite nicely. Very idyllic feel.

Thank you for the lovely comment! Idyllic was exactly what I was aiming for, and I'm so pleased the Parrish homage works. (I've developed a much better appreciation for his talent after attempting this!)

Oh, WOW. That's very good!! ::stares:: Amazing!

Wow, that is just gorgeous--I am so impressed. I like Ray's face especially, and his hair looks so soft. I want to pet it.

And yeah, that really would be Fraser's version of happily ever after.

Leyna Author Profile Page said:

Thank you! I had to use 4 separate screenshots and promo pictures as reference for Ray's portrait - so I'm mighty relieved it worked!

This is just gorgeous. I love the textures and the colours and the emotion in their faces - Fraser looks like he could be mid-story, and Ray looks so calm and relaxed. Beautiful.

*points down* What they all said. This is gorgeous!

Happy Ray! Happy Fraser! I love the Parish colours and style and the detail in little things like Ray's stubble and the stitching in their clothes. And the faces, wow. You've really captured them (Dief's included!)

I definitely think Fraser would be fine with non-botanically correct in the interest of Art.. "Great artists often downplay (or even ignore) realistic renderings so as to emphasize a theme or message in some schools the 'constructs' of reality are suspended entirely; case in point the great Surrealist painter Salvador Dali, whose works are sometimes said to be...[insert several lengthy paragraphs of phrases, clauses and/or polysyllabic words here]."

Erm, sorry. Fraser does tend to go on when he's happy. :)

I'd like to thank you and Fraser for your comment! I'm very pleased Fraser isn't unhappy with my inability to paint realistic trees. (I used references! They just came out looking like fantasy trees instead *g*)

Thank you! I love playing with colour, and this painting was lots of fun in that respect.

I made a more extensive comment on this in my recs post over here . Really neat to have you here...your artwork is completely new to me. :)

This is beautiful, the textures and the details and Fraser and RayK getting a happy ending and *Dief*. I love it.

Leyna Author Profile Page said:

Thank you! I'm very happy Dief's portrait worked (because it wouldn't have been quite such a happy ending without his presence *g*)

Wow, this is GORGEOUS. Lovely colors and composition, and beautiful details. I love the pose -- especially Fraser's hand on Ray's shoulder -- and the expressions.
